Amazon Fresh opens and is full new tecnology

Amazon FreshA select group of guests will be able to have a new experience with the use of technology when they do their grocery shopping at the first Amazon Fresh supermarket, which opens its doors this week in Woodland Hills, California. The eCommerce giant announced that the doors of its new grocery store will open soon to the general public.

According to information released on Amazon’s website, the new Amazon Fresh grocery store was designed from the ground up to provide a seamless grocery shopping experience for both in-store and online customers.

“I’m excited to announce that starting this week, we’re opening our doors to a select group of invited customers in Woodland Hills, California, to shop the store before it opens widely to the public in the coming weeks,” said Jeff Helbling, vice president, Amazon Fresh Stores.

Helbling said Amazon Fresh will offer consistently low prices on all of its products and free same-day delivery for Prime members.

The supermarket will offer a wide assortment of national brands and high-quality produce, meat, and seafood. In addition, a range of prepared foods will be made fresh in-store every day.

Technological innovations will be part of the experience at Amazon Fresh, according to the company.

Customers will be able to use the Amazon Dash Cart which uses a combination of computer vision algorithms and sensor fusion to identify items put in the cart, and will not need to line up to pay at the cash register.

Alexa’s new features will also help customers manage their shopping lists and better navigate the supermarket aisles and check off items as they shop. Amazon Echo Show devices are available throughout the store to ask Alexa for help when customers need to find a specific product.

As a prevention measure against COVID-19, Amazon Fresh will conduct daily temperature checks on all employees, the use of masks will be mandatory for employees and customers entering the store, they will offer free disposable masks to any customer who wants one, and the supermarket will operate at 50 percent capacity.

Amazon reported that the store will open for the entire Woodland Hills community in the coming weeks. Store hours will be from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm seven days a week.
